Lemon Aspen

Lemon Aspen:

Acronychia oblongifolia also known as 'Rainforest Lemon' is a native fruit found in the tropical eastern coast of Australia. It thrives in a warm sunny environment, sheltered from strong winds and frost and can grow (if allowed) up to 12-15 meters tall. The tree has dark, dense green foliage with attractive star shaped white flowers which bloom in spring and the delicious white edible fruit emerging in heavy bunches in autumn and winter.

Highly nutritious and versatile, the fruit has an intense lemon, lime, grapefruit flavour with subtle herbal hints reminiscent of eucalyptus and honey. Delicious picked straight from the tree, it can be pickled or used to infuse sweet or savoury dishes.  Lemon Aspen is a great source of folate, zinc and iron and has a higher antioxidant capacity than blueberries, (which is often used as a benchmark fruit).

Lemon Aspen has long been utilised by First Nations Peoples in culinary and for medicinal purposes.
